Last year when I started thinking about building Mouse Whisperer, I was planning on just making a simple analytics tool for page audits. And that idea came to me as I sat in this very same chair, looking at the results of an AB test I was running…
I had no idea what was going on…
The AB testing tool we used was not cheap, but it was a great app, and showed us exactly what we wanted: conversion data. But it was not enough. Just like with drugs and/or Pringles… once you pop, the fun don’t stop…
I wanted more of the raw data. Sure, I was happy to know that Version A converted at 11% and Version B converted at 15%, but what else was going on?
What were customers doing?
Did traffic from each source convert the same?
Were they clicking on images or links?
How much traffic was from this country and how many international visitors?
So I built Mouse Whisperer to answer those questions… and then later added AB testing so I could cancel that AB testing app that was costing several hundred bucks a month.
So what do this little snapshots look like?
Let’s just watch. It’ll be faster.

These page snapshots will spark some ideas of what to test and where to test. You probably already have some ideas, and now you at least have the means to test it accurately beyond a simple Version B beats Version A.
