Taking Ownership in 2025

The first time I heard the phrase "ownership" in the context of business, I like the idea. If you feel that you have a personal stake in something, you will hold yourself accountable, you will be more repsonsible, and you will have the opportunity to realize your potential through that role...

But then I got older and realize that it just meant that the boss (ya know, the "owner") didn't want to be the one held accountable, wanted someone to scapegoat if things go south, and hoped to extract 100% of your efforts before you move on to greener pastures.

That doesn't mean every owner or company is that way, but it is probably about a solid 3 out of 4 of them are...

You are lucky to work with the good ones, but if you are not that lucky.... its better to work with the shittiest ones that you know are like that. Everyone else in the middle usually has a good way of duping you into thinking they are a good one before their true colors come out.
