Teared discounts :’(
At my first dtc ecommerce job, I remember the manager wanting to do some overly complicated. It was like:
-
5% OFF up to $50
-
15% OFF up to $100
-
25% OFF up to 200
Something like that. I remember the homepage banner being really busy trying to get it all in there. So all the bases were covered, exclusions were *duly noted under, and it was clear as day that we did a good job setting up a great shopping experience for our customers.
It didn’t help much. People weren’t scrambling to reach the next tier to increase their savings. People just bought whatever they wanted and moved on.
Just bundle it up, they said...
The classic bundle-shit-product-with-good-product game plan was actually just a couple years ago. And between multiple teammates, A LOT of time was spent to try to make these g-d bundles move.
They didn’t move.
Let’s re-advent the wheel...
I love a good social media campaign actually, and only harping on convulted giveaway ideas because I’ve tried them, and they keep you busy and feeling energized... all the way up until the point 3 days into launching when you realize you should have just done a normal sale.

It’s different for every business, but do your customers a favor, and give them a simple offer that they would like.
Send them an early-bird email for first dibs on your BFCM deals... at least you can get their orders in and shipped out before the busy times hit.
Keeping it simple has a way better chance of cutting through the noise than any offer that requires them to math before clicking add to cart
